About Wedding Photography Styles
Traditional Style
Normally, the traditional wedding photography style includes a common selection of posed semi-formal-to-formal photographs. A good example of these are the usual "family" group shots taken immediately after the ceremony. Of course weddings are normally 'traditional" by their very nature. Tradition generally dictates there will be a "kiss", and maybe a unity candle and a bouquet and garter toss, cake cutting and toast, etc. Traditional shots are important to an album if posed group shots are important to the bride and groom and their families. We include as many of these as you care to have in our album designs.
Journalistic Style
The journalistic wedding photography style seems to have replaced what was simply called “candids” but with the added touch of journalistic sequential story-telling. Many times shot discreetly and mostly without the subject’s knowledge. These generally are not shot from a "list" as they are captured as events occur somewhat naturally. Also sometimes erroneously used to describe black and white shots. Posed group shots and portraits generally do not fall into this category. Journalistic shots are the backbone of a story-telling album design such as those we design.
Artistic Style
This artistic wedding photography style is made up of close-up details, usually tightly cropped and, at times, bordering abstract. Can allow the photographer to exhibit creative flair. Probably has more to do with how the photographer uses the wedding photographs more than anything else. These shots are usually critical to the actual album design.
