About Our Portrait Retouching, Enhancing, and Alterations
Whether we photograph your session in our studio or on location, we take a great amount of care to produce a technically "perfect" portrait. Creative posing, skillful use of camera angles and control of lighting separates one photographer from another but we all deal with what mother nature gives us. One of the reasons you may be drawn to a particular portrait photographer's work will be his or her "style" of portraiture. A part of that defining style, among other things, is the retouching and enhancements.

We offer retouching and enhancements that absolutely define our portraits and that you'll love.
Basic Retouching
Basic retouching is included in every portrait we create! Basic retouching takes care of such things as minor facial blemishes and scars. Also included in your portrait price are certain enhancements that are part of our "signature" style. These enhancements focus on areas such as your eyes as well as the overall "look" of your portrait.
Fashion and Glamour Retouch and Enhancements
Fashion and glamour retouching or enhancing is very much a major part of our signature style, setting us apart from many other photographers. This type of retouching is generally reserved for select senior portraits, engagement and other couples' portraits, bridal portraits and our maternity and boudoir portraits. Our signature "look" or "style" is what brings many people to Superstar Memories for their portraits. As part of our standard, this retouching is included in the specifically mentioned portrait types. There's no discount if you don't want our signature look ... it's part of our "style" and a big reason why people come to us for their portraits. Note that these enhancements may not be applied to each of your images at proof viewing time when there are a high number of images. We will select a few as "photographer's choices" and apply enhancements to those few for you to visualize.
Custom Alterations and Body Sculpting (or Reshaping)
One of the reasons that our listed print prices are so reasonable is that we don't pretend that every single customer will require the same level of retouching and enhancements. That means we don't roll such custom retouching and enhancements into our print pricing. Falling into the category of "Custom Alterations and Body Sculpting" are physical things that you ask us to change about yourself in your portrait. These are things that we'd never change without your specific request and are not the type of things that apply to each of our customers in general. As such, they are beyond the usual realm of retouching or enhancing and additional charges are incurred for such requests. The costs vary on a case by case basis and the range is normally between $15 and $50 per image depending on amount and complexity of requested changes. Some examples of things we charge additional for:
- altering the shape or structure of your body in any manner
- changing or altering the color of your clothing
- removing wrinkles, strings, tags or holes from your clothing
- removing deep skin wrinkles or skin-folds
- removing or altering tattoos
- changing or altering skin color or tone due to any type of tanning issue
In other words, if you ask us to change something of a physical nature in your portrait, additional charges will be incurred.
